From birth we’re taught that we’re owed a beautiful girl. We all think of ourselves as the hero of our own story, and we all (whether we admit it or not) think we’re heroes for just getting through our day.
So it’s very frustrating, and I mean frustrating to the point of violence, when we don’t get what we’re owed. A contract has been broken. These women, by exercising their own choices, are denying it to us. It’s why every Nice Guy is shocked to find that buying gifts for a girl and doing her favors won’t win him sex. It’s why we go to “slut” and “whore” as our default insults — we’re not mad that women enjoy sex. We’re mad that women are distributing to other people the sex that they owed us.
Yes, the women in these stories are being portrayed as wonderful and beautiful and perfect. But remember, there are two ways to dehumanize someone: by dismissing them, and by idolizing them.

That last line is right on the money.

this is why i’m so distrusting of men. i really really like them, until they show me this side of themselves, and then all i want to do is beat the shit out of them for being like this.

I’ve reblogged it before, but I absolutely love this article. Spot on.

^THIS. JFC, THIS. Putting people on pedestals means they will eventually disappoint you, or you will resent them. You’re denying not only their humanity, but your own. Stop it.

I had some free time, so I red lined (correct me if the term is wrong ;;) this Black Widow picture from Greg Land. Here’s what I found.
- The thighs are so thin! Ow
- The hip-leg joint is just, no. Its like one of those wooden manniquins that have the joints BELOW the hips and not in the lower side.
- Hips.
- Her suit is… body paint (??) it just wraps around the boobs like paint. Here’s a REAL skin-tight suit wrapping over boobs for you, Land.
Also, I tried the pose, and it hurt a lot (and couldn’t do it with my hips facing foward).
(BONUS) A REAL WOMAN, LAND.
Land seems to really like slimming down the hips and thighs of women he draws/traces. Since he traces/references from nudes (apparently), it’s not surprising that their outfits always look vacuum sealed.
and apparently it’s more than simply tracing photographic reference. using copyrighted photos, other artists illustrations, and flat out pornography? i can’t help wondering why people like this get work while i’m still looking for a job. also, this explains so much about why women in comic books look the way they do. :c

This picture has been making the rounds on conservative websites. I do actually find it sort of funny.
I like to imagine Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are best friends, but Obama is the “straight man” and Clinton is always getting them into wild shenanigans.
The picture alone is fantastic and should become a meme.
My dad has spent his life accumulating wealth, because to him, money is love.
My parents both grew up with the fear of not having enough. Their parents grew up poor.
When I was 25, my parents gave me a $100k check. There’s lots more where that came from.
The money sent me into a spiral of shame and denial.
Now at age 30, I’ve started giving it away to organizations working for ECONOMIC & RACIAL JUSTICE.
That’s something I can do, and it makes me feel better, but I know it’s not enough.
I don’t want to live in a world where money represents love.
I don’t want to live in a world where some people accumulate way too much - because they’re scared of not having enough.
We ALL should have enough.
I am the 1%
I stand with the 99%
All of these are great, but I especially liked this one.
